There are many "favorites" for me when it comes to ST:TMP. I saw TMP in the theater back in December of 1979. It was the first new Trek I had seen after watching TOS in syndication during the 70s. I was mesmerized from the start! Highlights were getting the updated Klingons (and their ships), the tour of the refitted Enterprise that Scotty gave Kirk, the vastness of V'Ger, the interaction between Ilia and the Enterprise crew, the merger of Decker and Ilia with V'Ger into a higher life form. The ultimate benefit from TMP is in revisiting the brilliant Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack. TMP was the most "sci-fi" of all of the Star Trek movies. I'm glad we got the 4K version of the Director's Cut.

My favorite thing about ST:TMP? While the travel pod inspection tour around the refit Enterprise is mighty nice, it's probably the "meld" sequence at the end, as Voyager 6, Ilia, and Decker ascend to unimaginable levels of reality. That Goldsmith score! Those sparkles!
