Welcome to Star Trekking, my weekly attempt to share points of interest and random intersections in the final frontier.
The ongoing thesis of this newsletter is that, whether you’re actively looking for it or not, Star Trek is everywhere.
This week is came to me in an email.
One of the weekly newsletters I get is from Unreadit. It’s a compilation of “self improvement” ideas collected on Reddit (a venue I don’t really participate in - it’s too much for me). The newsletter typically features a lot of lifehack junk I scroll right past but sometimes there’s a nice idea for being more positive, and I’m all in for that content.
When I opened the email this week I was greeted by some familiar words from a trusted wisdom figure.
I can’t speak for the falling asleep advice. Let me know if it works for you.
Today is my birthday (you may sing for me now).
Trusting that my wife will make this cake for me.
Well, a boy can dream.
Meanwhile, this is THE BEST.

Endorse.

Perspective.

I don’t know any Snoop Dog lyrics so I can’t start this with a quote or paraphrase so here you go.
Feel the power.
There’s a new feature on Twitter called Fleet.

Thread.
Sisko.
That’s it for this week.
Did I mention that today is my birthday?
SURELY THE BEST OF TIMES.
DIRECTIVES
I interviewed the great Dan Curry for TrekMovie.
RIP Herb Solow, who co-wrote one of the greatest behind-the-scenes Trek books.
TNG model train set(!) is a black friday deal and it would look great under your Hallmark ornament filled Trek tree. Or is it just me that has a special Trek ornament tree?
For my birthday, please encourage a Star Trek fan you know to subscribe to this newsletter: startrekking.substack.com. And remember - beware Romulans bearing gifts.
That’s all for this week. Thank you for reading.
Please share with other Trek folks and let me know what random Trek references you come across during your week. I’d love to share them in future issues.
Grok you later.
LLAP,
