Welcome to Star Trekking — random intersections in the final frontier.
Today I discovered Bing Image Creator. And, of course, the very first thing that popped into my dumb little head was to ask it for a happy Kirk and Spock sharing donuts and pumpkin spice lattes. Oh, and make it stained glass.
Gotta say - Bing nailed it.
Now that it’s November, some folks I know are already singing Christmas carols. But I prefer to wait until after Thanksgiving, so I am fully embracing autumn.
But.
Sometimes, you gotta prepare for the holidays.
And in that spirit, Insight Editions kindly shared with me their Star Trek Advent Calendar.
And in the spirit of planning and giving and of happily sharing pumpkin spice lattes, I am going to open this shuttle of goodness for you, one day at a time.
So, you know, spoiler alert.
Although, to be fair, there’s a description of each day’s gifts listed on the website and on the bottom of the insert card included with the piece. So if you’re gifting this to a Trek lover in your orbit, you may want to consider covering up the bottom of the box.
If you don’t want to know what’s inside, move along.
If you want to see what’s in day one, well, let’s make it so.
First off, we crack open the shuttle.
Delightfully detailed. And immediately, a postcard pops out.
If you would like me to mail you the postcard, reply to this issue with your mailing address and I’ll choose someone at random to receive it. But I won’t spoil the surprise here.
Now let’s open the day one box.
What could it be?
A bottle cap opener. But you guys, check out the fantastic tissue paper it was wrapped in.
A+.
Perfect for popping open a bottle of Vulcan Ale.
MEANWHILE…
You need a new necklace (because you are the superior intellect).
And it would look good with this jacket.
While you carried your box of tools.
And everyone needs a calendar.
Until day two, don’t forget that the human adventure is just beginning.

How awesome! If I had the discretionary quatloos, that might be an Advent calendar for me :) Because nothing says "penitential season of watching and waiting for the parousia" like an Enterprise bottle opener! ;)
Very cool! Thanks for sharing this.
